Does moss grow on solar panels?

Moss can grow on and around solar panels — especially in damp, shaded areas: ON PANELS: Moss on panel glass reduces light absorption. Impact: 3-10% output loss. Solution: annual professional clean (£40-£100). UNDER PANELS: Moss and debris accumulate in the gap between panels and tiles. Impact: can block drainage and airflow. Solution: bird-proofing mesh (£300-£500) blocks leaves and debris. AROUND PANELS: Moss on surrounding tiles is normal and not caused by panels. Prevention: (1) Install bird-proofing mesh at installation (cheapest — scaffold already up). (2) Annual visual inspection. (3) Trim overhanging branches to reduce shade and leaf drop. Moss on panels is a maintenance item, not a design flaw.
