Are SunPower panels worth the premium?

SunPower Maxeon panel review: EFFICIENCY: 22.8% — the highest commercially available efficiency for residential panels. Generates 10-15% more power per m² than standard panels. TECHNOLOGY: Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC) cells — no busbars on the front surface = maximum light capture. WARRANTY: 40 years product AND performance — the longest in the industry (most brands: 25 years). DEGRADATION: 0.25%/year (vs 0.4-0.5% for standard) — after 25 years: 93.7% vs 87.5%. COST: 20-40% premium. A 4kW SunPower system: £7,000-£10,000 (vs £5,500-£7,000 for standard brands). WORTH IT WHEN: limited roof space (get more kWh from fewer panels), long-term ownership planned, maximum performance desired. NOT WORTH IT: if roof space is ample — standard panels produce same total output at lower cost.
