Solar for Victorian Houses

Can you put solar panels on a Victorian house?
Victorian houses are excellent solar candidates: (1) LARGE ROOFS — Victorian houses typically have generous roof areas (40-80m²). Even with a dormer or chimney, ample space for 10-16 panels (4-6.4kW). (2) SLATE TILES — specialist slate hooks exist. More care needed than concrete tiles but well-established technique. Cost: £200-£500 extra for slate-specific hooks. (3) STEEP PITCH — Victorian roofs are often 35-45° — slightly steeper than the optimal 30-35° but still producing 95-100% of optimal output. (4) REAR INSTALLATION — rear-facing solar avoids any conservation area or aesthetic concerns. Most Victorian houses have a south/east/west-facing rear. (5) LISTED STATUS — if listed: you need listed building consent. Rear installations have 90%+ approval rates. (6) CONSERVATION AREA — you can install if panels don't face a highway. Rear and side installations are usually fine.
